In February, Steve Burton informed fans via his Instagram that he would be stepping away for a short period to spend more time with his family, and that Jason Morgan would be leaving storylines in late March.
Kelly Was Disappointed By Steve’s Hiatus Announcement
While most fans were supportive, some viewers expressed concern about his potential return, but overall, it’s one of those ‘it is what it is’ situations. Although it’s unfortunate that Jason has to step away from the show for a bit, Burton has reassured fans that he intends to come back to the ABC soap in the summer, likely around July.
However, upon hearing this news, Kelly Thiebaud was disappointed by Burton’s choice, and she made her feelings known during her guest appearance on Maurice Benard’s (Sonny Corinthos) YouTube podcast, “A State of Mind.”
She mentioned that she was taken aback by Burton’s announcement and even confronted him about it. Thiebaud acknowledged that she understood his reasons for taking a break, but that didn’t stop her from feeling “let down” by her co-star.
Kelly Thought They’d Have More Time Together Onscreen
The soap actress expressed her belief that they would have time together, stating, “… it’s just been really hard.” On one hand, Thiebaud has a valid point since Jason and Britt were just gaining traction in their romantic reunion.
However, it’s important to note that Burton isn’t leaving for good, and three months isn’t an extensive period. So, what truly lies behind Thiebaud’s feelings of being ‘let down’; could it be that Britt is also set to leave the canvas for three months? This might explain the actress’s disappointment-after all, as of now, Britt and Jason are expected to exit Port Charles together.
Jason’s Been Putting In Extra Effort To Reassure Britt She’s His Top Priority
The henchman has been putting in extra effort to demonstrate that Britt is his top priority and that he aims to rescue her from her current situation. All signs indicate that Jason will be leaving town as part of Burton’s exit. And it would be difficult for any fan to accept that he would abandon Britt, given her situation.
General Hospital spoilers suggest that Jason’s departure is likely scheduled for the week of March 16-20. This will make it intriguing to see how he wraps up his storylines and whether his exit means three months without Britt as well.
