General Hospital Heartbreak: Sofia Mattsson Confirms Exit… But Is It Forever?
General Hospital dealt fans another casting shocker following Sofia Mattsson’s exit from the ABC soap as Sasha. Despite the show teasing Sasha escaping Port Charles for Daisy’s safety, fans didn’t expect Mattsson to be leaving the show.
Sadly, that is the case, though. Mattsson decided to spread her acting wings after seven years on GH, just as Sasha’s chemistry with Michael (Rory Gibson) was on fire.
Are Sasha and Mattsson Gone Forever?
It’s been a couple of weeks since fans last saw Sasha on GH. However, Mattsson just broke her social media silence on her exit.
In an Instagram post that featured a carousel of photos from her time on GH, Mattsson opened up about leaving and hinted at a possible return.
“Yes, it’s true, Sasha Gilmore has left Port Charles! (For now 😜) General Hospital has become my second home these past years, and I am so grateful for my time there. And I feel so lucky to have experienced the love and support all the wonderful GH fans have to give – you guys truly are THE BEST! ❤️.” Mattsson began her message.
The actress added her wish for Sasha, which could be very good news for fans.
“I hope Sasha will make her way back to her friends and family, but for now, it’s time for her to take a break from all the drama, and for me to continue my acting journey in some new, exciting projects! 🎬💫,” she ended her caption.

In the comments section of Mattsson’s post, a few of her fellow co-stars expressed their feelings on her exit from the ABC soap.
“Beyond beautiful, talented, and genuine! Love you! ♥️💫,” declared Katelyn MacMullen (Willow).
William deVry (ex-Julian) shared that she was great on GH and will be missed. Gibson and Michelle Stafford (ex-Nina; Phyllis, The Young and the Restless) left several emojis, including red heart emojis, to respond to Mattsson’s message.
Mattsson and Sasha will be missed on the hit ABC soap, but we wish the actress nothing but the best in her new chapter.
